Born in January 1954 Dave has lived and worked all his life in and around the City of Canterbury.

Attending firstly, Wincheap primary school, Dave completed his secondary education leaving the Archbishops School Canterbury in 1970.

For 18 months Dave started his working life as a trainee manager for a local supermarket chain. Realising this was not the job for him in November 1971 Dave took a complete career change and joined a local ready mixed concrete company, Robert Brett and Sons, as a quality control technician.

Finding the construction industry fascinating Dave took every opportunity to learn and as the company grew Dave took on more and more responsibility and some 37 years later Dave still works for the same company achieving the current position of Technical Services Manager, responsible for the achievement of quality at 22 operating units in Kent, Surrey, Sussex, London and Suffolk.

Dave married Marion in 1978 and their son Matthew was born in 1983. Dave with his family have lived in New House Lane, Thanington Without, Canterbury for the past 30 years and for the last eight years has been a founder member of Hilltop Community Association as one of nine a trustees. As a classically trained building products professional and avid DIY'er Dave has been part of the team involved with renovating Hilltop's hall and can often be found helping with the hall facilities or cutting the grass along with other enthusiastic volunteers.
