Why HIMN?
  1. HIMN was created to help residents of Thanington High Lanes oppose the possibility of having 2,500 houses imposed by the Local Development Framework on the fields between New House Lane and the Ashford Road.
  2. It regards this as a threat not just to the present setting of the Lanes but to the traffic and social fabric of the City and to the aims of developing the Canterbury experience which the LDF claims to want to do.
  3. It is an independent, voluntary association, set up on 10 March 2010, by local Residents. It is not connected to any political party and has its own constitution, committee and funding.
  4. The present Chairman is Professor Clive Church, the Secretary Cathie Payne and the Treasurer Richard Armishaw. They hold office until January 2011
  5. HIMN is open to all those who support its aims and welcomes support from people in Canterbury, other parts of the District, from elsewhere in the UK and across the world.
  6. Its aims are to express residents feelings about the 2010 Consultation Document, to monitor the development of the LDF and to participate in the associated consultation processes and all relevant matters of planning and development.
  7. To do so it will cooperate with bodies with similar interests and with supportive local authorities.
